If you want to upload any file or folder to you website you need to transfer your Website content through FTP. In order to do so you need to use a FTP client software. The procedure is shown below where we have used FileZilla as the FTP client software which is freely available at

http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client

Download the FileZilla Client from the above location and install on your computer. After that go through the below mentioned steps to upload your Website content.

Step1

Run the FilleZilla Client Program and enter the FTP details as show below.

Enter the FTP details in text boxes marked with numeric value as below.

  1. Host :  Enter the FTP Host Name in this field.
  2. Username :  Enter FTP User name in this field.
  3. Password :  This field is for FTP password.

After entering all this details, click on the Quickconnect button (No. 4) to establish the connection with the server. There is one more field in the same row with label Port, which you can leave blank for default value.

 Step2

Once the server is connected, we can brows files in our local system as well as in the server which is elaborated below.

The local system can be found in the left-hand side, whereas the remote system in the right-hand side. The items shown with the numeric values are as below.

  1. Local Site :  In this text field you can enter the path of the file or folder you want to upload.
  2. Local System Pane :  In this pane you can view your files and folder on the local system. You can brows files or folder in this pan using mouse also.
  3. Remote Site :  The remote location where you want to upload your files can be entered in this filed.
  4. Remote System Pane :  This works similar to the Local System Pane for file browsing.

NOTE: One must upload files and folders in the httpdocs folder under the root directory of the remote system.

After you brows the source files or folder in the Local site pane and the destination in Remote site pane, you need to right click on the source file or folder and select the Upload option as shown in the below image.

If the contents are uploaded successfully, you will find all those files and folders in the remote site pane.
