You often encounter some bounce messages stating that your mail could not be delivered to the intended recipient since your IP has been blocked by certain site. The bounce message will give you more details on the site that has blocked your IP. The reason is that the recipient domain has implemented an antispam protection that has detected that you are the source of SPAM to their domain and hence have blocked your ISP IP address to prevent further mail from you. It is most often a false situation where actually the SPAM has originated from that IP but not from your domain rather the IP that has been provided by your ISP is being used by hackers to send unsolicited mails which resulted in the blocking of the IP and as a result of which you face the problem. Below is an example of such kind of a bounce message:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at plesk04.diadem-tech.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<jhon@example.com>:
67.95.198.171 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 554 5.7.1 This message has been blocked because it is  from a FortiGuard - AntiSpam black IP address.(connection black ip 208.56.4.96)
Giving up on 67.95.198.171.

The above bounce message indicates that when you have sent an mail address to "example.com" your mail got bounced since the IP from which you are sending your mails ( in this case 208.56.4.96) has been blocked at the "example.com" domain antispam protection (in this case FortiGuard) has blocked your IP.The possible solutions are

  • If you are using a dial-up kind of a broadband then disconnect your internet connection and wait for 5 minutes and reconnect your internet connection. In this fashion the IP obtained dynamically from your ISP will be changed and you will obtain a new IP for your use.
  • If you have a static IP provided by your ISP then the options will be to either follow any link provided in the mail to delist the IP from the blocklist of that antispam site or to communicate to the recipient domain who has implemented the SPAM protection to delist your IP from their spam block manually.
